Something Happens’ confirmed as headliners for Bray Summerfest ’07 Details of Ireland’s largest free festival announced at Dublin launch event in The Porterhouse, Parliament Street, Dublin 2 The legendary ‘Something Happens’ have been confirmed as headliners for Bray Summerfest ’07, Ireland’s largest free festival event. The announcement was made at a Dublin press reception held in The Porterhouse on Parliament Street, Dublin 2, this evening (Wednesday 6th June 2008). ‘Something Happens’ – with regulars Tom Dunne, Eamonn Ryan, Alan Byrne, and Ray Harman – will play Bray Summerfest’s Bandstand Summer Stage on the evening of Sunday 15th July, in a free-to-the-public concert performance on Bray Seafront. This highly-anticipated concert event has been confirmed as the only live concert performance this year by ‘Something Happens’. The performance will be followed by the largest midsummer fireworks display on the East Coast. All live music concert events on Bray Summerfest’s Bandstand Summer Stage, situated on the magnificent Bray Seafront, are free to the public. Other music highlights confirmed for Bray Summerfest ’07 include the hottest U2 tribute band on the planet Rattle n Hum (Wednesday 11th July 2008), singer/songwriter Colm Lynch and his band (Friday 13th July 2008), and the Dublin Gospel Choir (Saturday 14th July 2008). Additional free live music acts during the five weeks of Bray Summerfest ’07 will be announced in the coming weeks. In addition to five nights of free live music on Bray Seafront, Bray Summerfest has announced that David Kitt will bring his UK and Irish ‘Guitars & Other Machines’ tour to Killruddery House on Thursday 12th July 2008. This is an intimate ticket-only event under the stunning glass canopy of Killruddery’s Orangerie. The event also includes a garden party with champagne bar and organic barbecue. Tickets priced €25.00 each plus booking, are available from (01) 202 2056. As well as being a festival of live music, Bray Summerfest ’07 also includes a packed programme of entertainment for all the family. Highlights announced for this year include the Coco-Cola International Beach Volleyball Tournament, presented in association with the Volleyball Association of Ireland. This spectacular men’s and women’s beach volleyball event will be staged in a stunning sand amphitheatre on Bray Seafront over four days (training sessions, Thursday 12th and Friday 13th July; international men’s and women’s tournaments Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th July). Guests attending tonight’s Dublin launch event included ‘Something Happens’ Eamonn Ryan and Alan Byrne, Rattle n Hum’s Ian Donnelly, Oliver Hughes and Liam la Hart of The Porterhouse Group, John Duggan of Koo Late Nite Bar, Miss Ireland contestant and Miss Face of Bray Sasha Coen, and many, many more. Guests celebrated the launch of Bray Summerfest ’07 with a selection of quenching Hennessy City cocktails, specially created by Hennessy Artistry to celebrate the famous cognac’s association with live music, and Fruli Belgian Beer, a strawberry-flavoured beer specially imported and exclusive to bars within The Porterhouse Group – as well of course as champagne! Bray Summerfest ’088 is a unique summer festival, with 100+ events taking place over five weeks from July 1st to August 6th. Over 60,000 visitors attended the main Bray Summerfest mid-July weekend last year, making it one of the largest summer festival events in Ireland. |
